Sink Label Removal

I've tried everything except petroleum-based stuff to get the glue off that was holding my sink label on. A friend said they used Goo-Gone and it marred the finish.

What did you use to clean that off (that didn't damage the sink)?

Not sure where the label is located however I've used WD-40 with great success to remove label glue. To date I've never marred a finish though if concerned try a hidden spot first. One surface that I have not used this approach on certainly is wood.

I have used a heat gun very carefully to soften the label and try to peal it off. If the face comes off and leaves the residue, I soak with WD40 and it comes right off. Would never use any abrasive material or anything that could scratch the surface.

Goo-Gone. That is, if big brother hasn't banned this since it works so well.

I have several bottles, so haven't tried to purchase lately.

Found a link. Goo Gone*Citrus Power Liquid Adhesive Remover | Walgreens

Try Goof Off. It's potent so use sparingly.

Hair Dryer and Vegetable Oil

To remove a decal from my son's football helmet I used a hairdryer. I heated the surface of the decal which softened the glue so I could carefully peel the decal away. This worked good but left the sticky residue behind. Next step was to soak a napkin in vegetable oil and then place the oily napkin on the residue for approx 15 minutes. The vegetable oil broke down the residue and I wiped (it did take a little elbow grease) the helmet clean. This worked so well when baseball season rolled around I used the same method on another son's baseball helmet.

A dab of mineral spirits on a rag, soak sticker, a little elbow grease - it'll come off. I've used Goo-Gone on many surfaces, never had it damage a finish that was non-porous.

I don't know if speechless is the right word. But I am guessing he had to break a finger to keep from typing what he was thinking! He's worried herk will give him his 3rd strike! LOL

I use "Ronson" lighter fluid to remove adhesives from painted parts. Tested this against other adhesive removers and found that the "Ronson" did not damaged or stain the clear coat even when left over night. 3M also makes an adhesive remover, that we use to take off wheel weight tape, but I have not tried it on painted surfaces.

X2 on 3m adhesive remover. We use it on cars and parts everyday. I used it to take stickers off of the dw jetted tub, sharpies on wood floor and painted window seals and just about anything and everything.
-it stinks a little but a very mild solvent. Not as mild as rubbing alcohol, it will create a little dullnes of the clear on very fresh Dupont paints (auto paint), but I never had that happen with other paint systems.
Ps. Ill get a pic of it tomarrow

WD-40 guy here. Works good on grease also. Kerosene will remove tar and tree sap from your TV also.

We use the same----------

We use the same cleaner used to clean GLASS COOK TOP for the stove. It will clean the pot marks also from the engineered "STONE" sink. A little elbow work with the cleaner will do the trick.
