I would use a rubber strap wrench in conjunction with the plastic one. Just put it down lower on the housing. We also use ours to take off tight lids. Good luck.

When installing I hand tighten it which makes me nervous it will vibrate loose enough to leak. But we used these housings for filters in the operating room and it was a big deal to only hand tighten. Otherwise they’re practically impossible to open.

If you don't mind a couple of marks on your plastic housing, Channel Lock makes a great oil filter wrench. I found it works really well for water filters and for those really tight sewer connectors that just don't want to come apart. I think they still make them. Bought several for both the house, the TT, and, of course for changing the oil, too. When camping, though, I use one filter wrench and the giant Channel Lock adjustable wrench which performs other duties when not opening the sewer connections.

KW 1 housings

Had the same issue with my 2018 Rockwood ultra light , the housing wouldn’t budge gave it one or two it comes off or breaks after an hour of trying it started to loosen and I was able to remove it crazy thing is it fills with antifreeze so be sure to have it in place if you use antifreeze 🍻

Filter Housing

The answer to your question is in the response before mine. Push up and turn.
I know, because I had the same issue long time back.

Open all the hot and cold faucets and low point drains. Open the pressure relief valve on your water heater. If there is a hint of vacuum, you will NOT EVER break the housing free, unless you physically break it with a hammer. You do not have to push up or pull down... just break the vacuum.

Solved- Water Filter Housing is Stuck

Had same problem once. Your system is still under pressure.
Open faucet and let pressure diminish. Then you can unscrew cartridge case.
You will never get it to turn with the pressure on.

Jnmary- bought an aluminum plate at local RV center that inserts at top of filter housing and prevents antifreeze from filling filter housing during winterizing.. also saves on antifreeze.

make sure you take the filter cartridge out before you put antifreeze into the water system. same if you have a refrigerator water filter. if you have an old bottle with a tight cap on it you can cap the bottle and put it into the filter housing before you reinstall it. you will save a volume of antifreeze equal to the volume of the bottle.

You have to be very flexible to get to it. I have had some luck pushing up on the bottom of housing when I turn it. Good luck
Next time you have it out,,, put some Super Lube on the Oring & threads,,,
before reinstalling,,, you could probably use some Vaseline also !!!

Every time when taking my filter off I would have to stop and think "am I turning it the right way". So I solved that by drawing an arrow on it with a Sharpie. When I winterize the rig I use I believe a 24oz. plastic Pepsi bottle with the screw top cut off and up side down to limit the amount of antifreeze in the filter container.

You can also buy a winterizer plate that fits in the canister,,,
and will not allow any antifreeze to enter canister !!!

Did you release the pressure by depressing the little (red usually) button on the top. They usually come off easily after the pressure id gone.
