Question Suburban hot water tank - on/off switch

The tank was full of water and we were using hydro to heat the water. The other day, there was no hot water. The breakers were not tripped. The outside switch was still in the on position. I tried switching it off, but the switch is stuck and will not move to the off position. I have used this switch before when storing the RV. The propane function still works.

Does anyone know what might be happening? And how to remedy this situation?

The switch may have just burned up. They are known to go bad, especially when they aren't turned off/on regularly.

I carry a spare one of these, but have never needed it yet. If you have a local RV store, they usually have them in stock for less than $10.

Could also be the 120v hi limit is tripped or burnt out.

This is also true, but I wouldn't think that should have any bearing on the switch being stuck, and not being able to turn off.

True, but it would explain why there is no hot water when on 120v, which was her first statement.

Check the switch with a meter or continuity checker to se if the switch is bad before anything else.

Yup.....I had my switch go belly up. They're cheap little plastic switches and sometimes it happens. They're easy enough to pop out of the panel and measure to see if you've got voltage coming in and going out. You might want to turn off the breaker inside the coach as you test for 110V voltage, or it could be shocking.

I also had the hi limit go belly up, but the switch not being able to move would make it my first choice to troubleshoot.
