WMTire -- You are correct in your thinking. What we were looking for is an open neutral. That's the only way you'd get 120 volts on the neutral side of the element.

I read some of the comments . is it hard wire or plug .If it is the the plug take a cord and plug it in separated.Maybe a bad breaker or check the wire on the breaker they become loose when traveling.
