Come On, you know why there isn't a switch inside, so uninformed sig Os won't turn it on before it is time.

Water Heater Switch?

I have a 2012 Puma TT 23-FB. It has a Surburban water heater.
I do not know the model number because the mfg. but sealant over
the numbers. This WH does not have a switch on the outside panel.
I have seen where should be (lower left hand corner) I have looked
all over this panel. No switch. Does it even have an outside switch?
Please help.

Without the model number the only way to know for sure would be for you to post a picture the water heater.

Here's what I did with mine:

Water Heater Switch Mod - My Photo Gallery

Made the receptacle that the water heater is plugged into a switched receptacle and installed the on / off switch in the hall by the bathroom. Leave the switch on the water heater in the "On" position and operated from the wall switch. Problem solved.

Lots of early 2000 TT's have only manual pilot and no electric. My 2006 Wildwood is one of them

My water heater access is right beside my fresh tank fill and city water connection. Once I fill the tank or hook up city water I ensure the water heater has water by flipping the relief valve and I turn on the switch. I've never thought it was inconvenient. Burning up the element by flipping the wrong switch on the inside panel would be much more inconvenient.

No electrical switch

I did more research the model # is SW6D, gas only. That makes sense
Because there is no switch on the outside panel. Got this info. off a Suburban
website. Does this sound correct?

Not all water heaters can be used with AC current. Some are DC/Propane only. Without your model number, it is hard to tell.

Does yours look like this?

I have the same setup. Being the dumbest member of this board, I didn't know for many months that I even HAD an electric wh capability!!!

Now that I know it's there, it's sort of a minor issue to turn it on. Course, I always forget to, and leave it on propane, but.......as I said...............I ain't real bright.

No switch

Mine does not have a outside panel AC on/off switch.
It is a 6 gal. Suburban WH so it has to be model# SW6D.
Just bought this TT (2) months ago, I have a lot to learn.
So I will fill the propane tanks and try it out.

Thanks everyone for info.

No Inside HW Switch

I have to side with the original poster on this one. Coming from an Outback which had both gas and electric switches on the inside to a Wildwood which has the gas switch on the inside and the electric switch on the outside, having both switches on the inside was way more convenient. The argument about making things more difficult because a few people forgot to put water in the tank before turning it on doesn't hold water (pun intended). Instead, what happened with me was I had mine at home on shore power to keep the batteries charged and forgot to turn the electric HW switch off (remember it's now outside out of sight behind a cover) and ended up boiling the HW heater dry and burning it out anyway. I would much rather have a lighted rocker switch inside on the control panel so it's easy to see and use.

... and I have the opposite view. When I break camp and unhook my water hose from my trailer, I'm standing 2 ft. from the water heater and I flip the outside switch to turn OFF the electric heating element. I don't flip the switch in any direction until I hook up my water hose at the next campsite. When I hook up the hose and test for flowing water (by flipping open the pressure relief valve which is outside and also on the heater face), I turn the electric element ON. I've never felt the need to turn my electric element ON/OFF in the middle of a camping trip.

BTW, the OP hasn't logged on to the site in almost 3 years. I guess he resolved all RV questions one way or the other.

Glad you said something Dan. Last time I mentioned an old thread to someone, I got my butt reamed by other posters.

Our last camper being 30A I never saw a need to use the electric side (As the water heater uses so little propane). We needed the electric for other things. But having said that our older campers only had a propane side.......

If you want to add your own switch, see post #13 here:
