summerizing the toilet in my cottage

We will be leaving our rv in Florida over the summer and I am curious to know what I should do with the toilet. The water and electricity will be disconnected. The water in the bowl will evaporate.

What do I do with the seal at the bottom of the bowl?

Get some RV Antifreeze (normally for winterizing- the pink stuff) and dump enough to cover the seal into the toilet.

X2 The pink stuff will also evaporate, just not as bad as water, so use plenty of it.

RV antifreeze with cellophane should work. It does evaporate, but much slower than water.

I imagine the antifreeze will not stain the toilet....like pour a gallon of the stuff and place cellophane across the top of the toilet?

I've never noticed any staining, but then I don't use a gallon either. I'd honestly have to check but I doubt its going to stain.

By the way, I have never had to summarize, but I think it would also be good for you to do a really good flush of the black tank and then leave some AF down in the tank. You're going to have to buy at least a gallon of the AF anyway so might as well dump the rest down there.

DO NOT leave the the toilet lid closed.

Mold can and will grow.

Leave the lid open.
