Switch for water heater elect mode

We have a new Flagstaff 8528 IBKWS and I feel stupid for not knowing how to turn on the elect supply for the hot water heater. I know there is a switch inside the cover of the water heater which must be on but is there another switch? On the control panel inside the camper there is only one switch which turns on the gas mode. Other campers we owned had two switches side by side, one for gas and one for elect.

If it's a suburban its in the lower left of wh

Make sure there's water in it by flipping the relief valve.

Normally flagstaff only has one switch and it's outside as you stated.

I have the same one, That the only switch you have to turn on...You just have to make sure to shut it off after you unplug or in storage. or not in use..

If you have the Suburban brand, that is a very common question. Here is a post from the FAQ section that explains it in detail.:

If you're handy you could interrupt the breaker wh hot wire and install a lighted on/off switch next to your breaker panel for an inside switch.

I also have the same heater and that is the only switch. I've burned out 2 heating elements because of forgetting to shut my off. If you burned yours out the cheapest place I found was on Amazon.

Thank you all very much. I'm surprised there is the only one switch. Forest River makes a good camper and this seems a little on the cheap side. I like the idea of adding a switch next to the breaker. I could also use the breaker for the shut off. Still will have to remember to shut it off. Thanks again.

I wouldn't use the breaker to turn it on or off as it's not a switch it's a breaker.

I just went thru my PDI yesterday and that is the question I had about one switch only for the water heater. The tech said it was a move to prevent the burning up of heating elements. For those not so bright people, it makes them check the drain plug and fill the tank after draining the water heater. But this isn't any of us.

Adding a switch is not hard. Willis cracked this code some time ago.
