Temporary cold weather heat for outdoor shower

This may be a silly post, but I've used this trick several years when there are freezing temperatures and I think it works well. We were given one of those glass block Christmas decorations. It got older and the decorative ribbon came off. In the outdoor shower compartment, it produces a very safe and probably economical heat. It won't melt or harm anything, and the glass block probably is a good mass for radiating heat. A string of lights would work fine too I suppose, but I like the block.

My outside shower is...outside!

No room for something like that.

It did freeze up on me last month in Denver and I had to replace it.

Sometime this summer I'm going to find where the plumbing originates for the outside shower and either plug it off so it is no longer usable, or if I can, put shutoffs on it and fill the lines with RV antifreeze and never worry about it freezing again!

Note the crack (circled in red).

Anyway, even though my basement is heated, I usually leave the basement lights on when needed to help create heat.

If you use the outside shower any, you could most likely just put 2 valves on the hot and cold lines in a heated area (or closer to a heated area). Then just shut off the valves and leave the outside faucet open to drain in freezing weather.

That's my plan...as soon as I find out where they originate from.

The shower is located on the outside back wall just above the rear bumper and the lines are in the underbelly above the coroplast, so not that easy to get at.

Instead of using standard 2-way valves, you might want to consider using 3-way valves, like this:


They would allow you to blow out/drain the isolated lines and/or allow you to add antifreeze if you wanted. Here's some suggestions, depending on your physical setup:
