The Big TP Question again!

I am sure somewhere in the forums there is a long and in-depth discussion on this subject but after an extensive search I have not found it so here it goes:

In my old TT (which I bought used) we used the Angel Soft "septic tank safe" toilet paper which is like having stuff you would use in your home. We never had any problems but then again I only had the trailer for a little over 1 year and I cleaned the black tank after every trip.

We now have a brand new TT and of course want to make sure everything goes well with it. My question is does anyone use the above mentioned toilet paper and have done so for a long time without issues. Would using the RV safe tissue be worth the not so clean feeling hand is dirty now also problems.

Thanks,

The RV stuff is expensive and not necessary if you maintain your tank correctly and use plenty of water. Pouring a bag of ice in the tank and letting it knock around on the way home will help keep stuff from building up of the sides. Then there is the GEO method many people use, link:https://sites.google.com/site/cbruni/
We're on our 4th camper and use the same Angel Soft septic safe TP we use at home and have never had a problem.

Yep we always leave some liquid in the tank to slosh around while heading home.
Here's the absolute best method of determining if your TP is OK. Just put 2-3 sheets into a 1/2 quart jar with water in it and shake hard for about 15 seconds. RV safe TP will break apart in that time period. I've tried some that was still the same as I put it in after the 15 seconds. Others will just fall apart.

^^^^^^^^This!!

I tried this test and found that most brand name TP is septic and RV safe as it breaks down quickly. Great test !!

Angle Soft is fine. But, we don't use "chemicals" in our tanks. We use Probiotics. All, 100% natural. Absolutely NO chemicals. Only the EMPTY lights come on after draining the tanks. We NEVER use ice. The probiotic web site is:<www.tanktechsrx.com> Phone: 800-625-7945.

+2 on this. We use Costco's Kirklands TP. 30 rolls for $15. No, we don't bring that much TP on a trip.

Absolutely. There's no good reason to pay more $$$ for TP just because it says rv safe!

We use whatever we want and deposit it in a trash can which is emptied every day, so only human waste goes into the black tank along with a mixture of Super Clean/Pinesol with each generous flush of water.

Angel Soft users here, two years on one RV and no problems with emptying or tank sensors. Like others, I use the GEO method, using Trend laundry detergent as both by detergent and water softner. Cheap and easy method, and we get to use decent toilet paper...

Another yes for the Costco brand, here at home and in the trailer.

And the shaken not stirred works but you just need to let it sit to see if it is going to break down in a non moving black tank.
