Thermaheat tank heaters

Forest River uses ThermaHeat (I am familiar with Ultra Heat). I could not find the company that makes ThermaHeat heaters or any information on the wiring. Anyone out there have any info?

if it isn't there, try the link up thru org. there are several schematics posted there. one might be what ur looking for.

i'd kind of like to know what problems ur having with them. i have the heaters on my tanks and the indicator lights don't come on when i turn them on. dealer repaired them after i had my flat and it doesn't appear that anything was changed. i haven't found a burnt fuze so i'm wondering if they are working but the indicator light is out. "One day" i need to do a little digging and find the problem.

UltraHeat a USA made product, and the industry standard, which Forest River mostly uses, however, for whatever reason its Cardinal division uses a made in China bootleg called Thermaheat.

The assembly instructions should be the same as those found on UltraHeat, Inc. - Home , however, its performance comes nowhere close. First, you'll need 3 Thermaheats versus 1 UltraHeat for 40 gallons, and you will be guarenteed to run into problems with the cheaper components used in the design of ThermaHeat.

I installed these heaters on all three of our tanks. Now just have to wait till the temp drops so I can be sure they work. Guessing I will have to crawl under and check with my hand LOL hopefully they will do the job. Thinking of covering them and the tanks with that blue closed cell camping foam pads (The blue pads you sleep on while back packing) will use spray on contact cement for the foam.

info says: pad turns on at 45 and off at 67 degrees. When properly installed offers protection to -40 degrees!.

Been thinking of doing tank heaters myself and enclosing underbelly on 21fbrs. Not sure how to wire them. Do I need to add a battery and run a separate circuit? Called local rv center and they wanted $1500 in labor alone to install tank heaters.

I just hooked them in parallel with a heavier gauge wire waterproofed the connections to an inline fuse then to a toggle switch and from the switch to the battery. Should work well but our temp is still too much above freezing to be sure. next week the temp is forecast to drop to a couple degrees above freezing so the thermostat on the pads will kick on. So I will have to check them then to make sure they are working correctly. Basic electronics nothing too complex.

Guy, I was getting ready to wire my pads and the ultra heat web site said not to go direct to the battery. Not sure why. I would think if it was fused and on a switch it would be ok.

I think if it goes to a switch and a fuse then it is not direct. I'm not an electrician but I am thinking it should be ok.

I believe it should be fused at the least.

Finished wiring in my 3 tank heat pads and insulation just have to mount my fuse block and switch. I also have a 20 amp relay wired into the system.

Got down to 35 last night. Checked them last night and this morning and they work fine. Plugged in and battery still 100%. Must have done something right.
