ID:	107015I have a Theford toilet with a China bowl (with plastic pedestal). After 5 years it failed to hold water in the bowl thus losing the seal. Thought I had a bad ball seal. Could not determine the model (no lit in camper docs) so decided to pull the toilet to see if a number was on back or underneath. Model number was on back and discovered the bowl to the pedestal had jarred lose and caused a misalignment, had to to use wrench to lossen the bowl. Realigned the bowl, tightened bolts, after a week water still in bowl! Info if you can use it, there is a bowl to pedestal alinement that effects ball valve operation and seal. Bowl is attached with plastic tabs on pedestal, two bolts set alinement.

Mine is not holding water also. Thanks for the tip on the model #. Used my camera and snapped a pic.

At Coca Cola 600 today and will head to CW to try the seal thing first.

How can you tell if your toilet is not aligned? Do you have to take the toilet off to do it?

U should see an equal amount of seal all around the ball. If not losen the bolts and adjust the bowl on the pedestal until the seal is even around the ball, check and see if it holds water, if it does tighten the bolts and you should be good to go.

I noticed that halfway down the back of the toilet bowl there are two recessed holes in the porcelain, one on either side of the toilet.

I am guessing that there is some sort of a screw or a bolt in there which will enable one to take the top half of the toilet off to replace the rubber gasket if necessary.

Do you know if it is a screw or not inside, and if so what kind?

Bolts on therford toilet

The two bolts that hold the China bowl come up through the pedestal. A washer and nut secure the bowl alinement for the seal. Nuts were about 1/2 or 9/16 if I remember. A combination wrench should work if you have small hands. I dropped one on the nuts into the pedestal, was afraid to leave it, took out the toilet. Turned it up side down to retrieve the nut. Reassembled it and aligned the bowl and seal before replacing unit.
