Thetford stool will not shut off????
I am now de-winterizing my unit and put water in the tanks. I turned on the water pump to flush the lines and the stool is running water like mad. What is going on here? I winterized everything. How do I take this apart to see what my be wrong/sticking open? The foot pedal seems to 'work' but it does not stop the flow of water.
Help...

A pc of crud from the water lines probably holding the valve open. Just take the valve apart and clean and lube thoroughly with a silicone paste like Danco.

Brother-Les, the valve is at the end of the foot petal under the cover at the bottom of the stool unit. If you get down low you should see one or two screws to take the cover off and then some more screws to take the valve assembly off/apart. Some unit do have snap on covers instead of screws depending on your model.

Thanks guys, I will look into taking it off and cleaning it out. Lube with a silicone such as Danco....
Thank-you Batt-toys for giving a heads up on what to look for.
All of the parts to take off are on the lower right side connected to the pedal and not in the back. It does not sound like i would need to pull the stool. Correct
Thank-you

Just make sure it's a paste, not a spray on.

I pulled the stool (easy). there are no screws that hold any plastic on. do I 'pull' the foot lever cover off and how do I do that with out breaking it?

Also check the spring. Ours was running (overflowed) and I found that the cap on the spring had loosened and did not have enough tension to close the valve. I discovered that while trying to install the wrong new valve that CW sold me.

I've never heard anyone call a toilet a "stool". I do know that toilets and stools can be used in the same sentence...

(that is where I do my most reading, hence...I call it the reading room )
Here in Mizzereee/Mizzurah where there is a even combination of Yanks and Johnies, and an even touch of both coasties, there seems to be two or more words for every item. We are the most southern state of the northerners.... the most west of the easterners, the most northern state of the southern states and the most eastern of the west states. The language is very blended. Hillbillies and two of the largest cities in the nation.... 'we' seem to be confused to t-others, but the blending does work.
Blessings to you in Kanuhda

Never did quite figure out how to get the step on flush valve off or apart.
Did not want to break the foot flush handle by trying to pry it off. Ended up reverse flushing the valve system and what ever was in there must of been flushed out. It now holds the water system pressure fine and is not flowing.
Still would like a diagram on how to take this apart for the time that I really need too.
The stool unit is a:
Thetford: Model 42072
Style II High
Bone Tray
It is fixed, but.....
any vid on this model?
Thanks...

If it is this style, the pedal just snaps off. It is scary taking it off, I watched a tech do it twice before I did it. He replaced the valve and didn't get something right, came out to the trailer and re-assembled it and about a month later it started leaking again. I then took it apart and applied a liberal amount of Danco all over it and it's worked flawlessly for 2 years.

I have worked on a couple of these but they had the valve and petal on the opposite side and everything was held together with screws.

The Thedford I listed is definitely not attached with screws, it just snaps off.

Yep, this is it. The foot just pushes into the side? Did you work the pedal off back and forth or slid something behind it and pried it off. Do the inner parts work out to or is something holding them in? Part #9 looks to be the water valve that would leak. I was concerned about trying to take it apart and just back flushed it with the valve open and I assume I washed what ever was in there away.
