That's your anti siphon valve for you black water flush, so blackwater doesnt siphone back into the campground's system.

Easy to replace. Find it on Amazon or buy a better quality one at the hardware store. Should only be leaking if flushing blackwater tank or blackwater tank is full.

Hope that helps.

You should have the black tank valve open when flushing but that would only cause the antisiphon valve to "leak" if you were actually overflowing the tank.

There are a lot of reports of that device leaking. The best thing to do is just replace it.

Valterra A10-3050 Check Valve/Vacuum Breaker @ amazon

replaced with this a couple years back, no problems since

Generally, waste gate should be open but I do open and close the gate during the process. Just use your head as to how much is in the tank and don't leave it running unattended

Here’s another thread about the B&B 571 leak problem. Seems to be a very widespread problem.

Not sure, but when we bought our first "new" travel trailer I discovered a few of the screw on fittings that hadn't been tightened all the way. So I went to all the water connections and snugged them all up.

There are some horror stories of people that did this and got distracted. You should always have the black tank drain valve open.

I think officially, leave it open. Saves you from the possibility that you’ll forget/walk away and end up overfilling the tank (either overflowing out the roof rupturing the tank).

However, I find that I can leave the valve open and flush for 10 minutes and the water runs clear. But if I then close the valve, let it fill, and then empty it- chunks and TP tend to flush out.

So for better tank flushing, I alternate.

But, I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a timer on my phone. ALWAYS.
