Too filter housing

I cannot get the filter canister off. I don't know if I cross threaded it or what. I opened a faucet and am using the tool if can with. Does anyone have any ideas?

After they've been seated in place for a while they can be difficult. Mine is the same way. Keep at it.

Once you get it off, lube it with Danco silicone paste on the O ring and it's mating surface on the canister.

Usually have super course threads. I highly doubt it's cross threaded, it would break before they got it seated.

Looking at it, turn left with wrench (looking from top, clockwise)

Try putting your hand under it and lifting up as you turn. You don't say what model you have, but some of them have teeth at the top to prevent them from unscrewing.

It is the FR1 that uses the KW1 filter.

Mine was really tight too. A strap wrench may be needed. Be sure to turn the right direction. Viewing from the top you turn clockwise.

I had it off yesterday to change the filter. I didn't buy the correct one so I put it back on.

That would be fine if we camped places that had water hook up, the state parks in Michigan only have water at the dump stations (yes it is water for drinking).

I just hook up the Camco filter to my FW white hose to fill the water tank.
Easy Peasy!

Put the wrench on the canister and push up slightly on the bottom then turn the wrench to the left. It pushes up so little you may not notice it.

Yep, the FR1 has locking teeth on the canister and filter head that most don't know about. You MUST push up slightly on the canister to release the teeth before it will turn or you will damage it. Many break the teeth and that contributes to filter failure down the road.

When installing, turn to align arrows (canister & head) and pull down slightly to engage teeth.

My FR1 filter didn't have arrows on the top or bottom to align. The filter didn't stay in the trailer after the first season. I use a whole house filter now.
