Cool Tub water won't turn off

Just got back from Nascar races where I had to use the fresh water tank to
get water to shower/tub. Yesterday, I couldn't get the water to the tub to
fully shut off except when I turned off the pump. The faucet/diverter unit
is all plastic. I pulled the knobs and the valves appear to be plastic as
well. Can you replace the washers in those or is it better to replace the
whole shower/tub/diverter unit? Also this unit appears to be attached to the
shower wall but won't pull loose even after I unscrew the rings behind the
knobs. How do you get this thing off or do you have to pull the shower wall
loose to get to it. This unit is a 2006 Forest River Surveyor Model 291.

Sometimes they leak because a piece of construction debris (pipe or tank trimming) gets behind the seat and just cleaning it out will allow it to seal off. I believe you can replace the parts and you'll have to pull the wall to replace the entire unit.

First: Welcome to FRF!

Second: Hey you were just down the road from me if you were at TMS this past weekend. Why didn't you stop by and say hey??

Third: No you shouldn't have to replace the whole assembly. As stated you may be able to stop the leak just by cleaning it out. I would also suggest you get some plumber's grease to use while re-assembling.

How do you get the valves out to clean? all that stuff is plastic and looks pretty fragile. If I do just replace the unit, how hard is it to get that enclosure wall back on. Looks like it has a couple of screws and some clear adhesive.

You should have an access panel behind the shower fixture. Should be made of the same super-thin plywood as your wall and be around 18" square with a screw in each corner. After you get the panel off you can access the "nuts" that hold the plumbing to the fixture. After you remove these nuts there are some capture nuts that hold the fixture to the shower wall. Remove these and the thing should come right off. After that it's real easy to take apart and clean.

Got Er Done

Man you guys are good. Finally found that access panel on bunkhouse side of the wall. Went to dealer to get new valves for the faucet and they had never seen anything like those( I bought trailer there new ) so apparently they don't stock parts for what they sell. Didn't even have a complete faucet unit that would work. Said they'd have to call Forest River and get specs. Then they could order one. Frustrated, I got back and cleaned up the old unit, put it back together, and low and behold, it worked. Water shut off just like new. Must of had a piece of trash or something that I never saw but all's well that ends well. Called the dealer and cancelled order. Got 3 phone calls later to "be sure that's what I wanted to do". 3 no less from parts and service.
Anyway, appreciate your feedback and hopefully I can return the favor some day.
