Waste water rod replacement

One of our cables to the grey water tank broke at the base of the handle rod. I have searched the internet and can't find a rod/handle that allows for the cable to be inserted into the rod & secured. Nor can I find the brand of the cable assembly. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

For a 2015 Brookstone 315RL.

Valterra makes several different ones. Not sure if it's the correct one for your vehicle.

ditto on looking for parts from valterra. is it the rod that broke or the cable? the cable assemblies normally get anchored to the frame and ends with a threaded stud that the handle rod screws onto. i just had to replace a rod that broke where it screwed onto the cable stud. i bought a valterra rod kit that included both a 6" and 9" replacement rod and pull handle. very easy to screw onto the existing cable end stud.

That sound like what I need. The cable broke where it goes into the rod. I need a new rod that allows me to insert the existing cable into it. The one you used.....How is the cable secured to the rod?

All I have been able to find are the extension kits: https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-TX9H...omotive&sr=1-1

Again, need to clarify exactly what is broken. The is normally a cable assembly and the an extension rod / handle. The cable assembly will have the cable ending with a threaded rod end that is attached to the cable. Is the actual cable is broken you need to replace the cable assy. Much more work. But if is it the extension rod that is broken a replacement rod will just screw onto the threaded end of the cable assy. This is a totally easy replacement.

The CABLE (wire) broke where it goes into the rod About 1/16” of cable is sticking out of the rod

I know that there are rods which allow you to attach cable into the end Then there is a special tool used to crimp the rod, there by securing the cable

Just can’t find one for RV waste system but it should not be too difficult to engineer a solution

Thanks

I do not know about a cable that is directly connected to the rod. They may exist. Try either valterra or can I to see if you can find one.

It is still very possible that you have a cable that is threaded into a pull rod. Look very closely at the cable / rod connection. Does the cable really go into the rod and is held by the rod or does it go into a cable end that the has the rod screwed over it. Try holding the cable with some pliers and try to unscrew the rod.

Sorry I can’t help more. Maybe others can point you where to look.

The end of the rod is hexagonal for about 1” That suggests that the cable was held inside the rod via compression.... but I may be wrong I tried to grab the cable stub that protrudes from the rod but not enough there to grab

Thanks for your suggestions!!!

Ummm is it this one?

That's from Amazon. Enter
rv cable waste valve
in Google and then click Images to see other variations.

Thanks Larry but I only want a rod that I can attach the cable to. That way I don't have to access the tanks.

Another possibility is to replace the valve with an electric one. I got tired of dealing with cables. Three failures

Hatchee, since you hadn't included a picture, I was trying to understand what part you needed.

Could you either attach a picture or a link to a picture of the part you need? Your description simply isn't sufficient.

Is it on this page?

I'm still assuming the valve was made by Valterra. Is that correct? I visited the Valterra website and saw the valves, but didn't see separate parts.

However, a few years ago I needed a Valterra part and called them. In my case they gave me the part number and told me that I could find internet sellers with it. That was successful. Why not give them a call tomorrow morning.

You can see it but no one else can because the software can't see what you computer sees. I thought Photobucket didn't work for anyone anymore.
