Water Fill Upside-Down

Anybody else have the fresh waster tank fill installed upside-down with the vent sealed up? I seem to have a vent tube running parallel to the tank drain tube. No issues filling tank on our first trip but it just seems wrong.

Most all that have direct hose connect for the fresh tank are plumbed this way. Sounds like you happen to have one that's plumbed like this with a "gravity feed". Shouldn't be anything to worry about as long as your tank is vented.

I'm not sure what you meant by 'vent sealed up'?
Meaning the vent is sealed closed and not open to atmosphere?
The tank has to vent somewhere to keep from ballooning the tank during fill.

Yes, they put a wad of sealant over what would normally been the vent screen. I say it's upside down as the vent is under the fill hole with the fill angled slightly downward. My tank is heated/enclosed. Maybe just to keep the rail water out?

I bet there is a vent/overflow someplace else that dumps out the bottom of your RV. I imagine since they didn't run a hose to the vent on the outside, they had to seal it up to keep rain water from getting inside.

On my previous unit, the line that ran parallel to the tank drain was the overflow tube.
When the tank got full it would gush out there.

If you kept filling, it would eventually come out the vent tube port too (screened part by fill port) and was not a recommended method.

I wonder if the vent screen was sealed by mistake?
Do you think there is a tube attached to the back side of it?

Good question. I'll have the shop look into it next week when I go back for a few warranty repairs. (If curiosity doesn't get to me first.)

Thanks for the input.

The overflow and vent are the same on your current model. No need for the screened outlet by the fill.

As luck would have it the fuse for the side out blew. The control box was mounted under the fridge and behind it was the water fill fitting. No vent line, must be as others posted, next to the drain line.
