I am totally happy using the Camco filter even at 100 microns. I sanitize my tanks on a regular basis and the campgrounds that I stay at are not located in third world countries. I have no problems with drinking the water.

I don't know if there is one installed already. I will have to check around. I don't recall seeing one though, so my guess is there is not.

I removed our water filter this weekend (and I am going with an external filter). The removal was simple and required only an adjustable wrench, screwdriver, and a small amount of teflon tape.

Benefits - Immediate increase in water pressure! Outside shower actually sprays now! (No. I probably won't use it as a shower, but it will allow us to wash dishes outside on occasion.)

We found a missing kitchen knife that we had received as a gift that had fallen behind the filter through a hole in the shelf. (The hole is temporarily covered.)

During the filter replacement process, I always seem to spill water inside the cabinet no matter how careful I am.


Potential problems - The removed WaterPur filter seems well made with a very durable filter. I like the clear filter chamber. Also, the filter was in surprising good shape even after using it for nearly a year.

We are no longer filtering water from the "white water" tank. I know that if I clean and sanitize the system, we should be OK (The water should be potable.). However, It was nice having the extra protection.

I am not a "filtered" water "freak". However, I am not alway's sure of the water quality as some of the campgrounds that we stay at and feel that it is better safe than sorry! I hope that I can trust the external filters.

What do you mean? You have an attachment to the water hose outside that you use for cooking water? Or do you get the water out of the kitchen sink?

I am thinking of recycling my waterpur for a dedicated drinking spigot at the sink. Will see what home depot has to offer.

While at our first FROG rally in FL in Jan., it was suggested by a couple of pretty astute guys that I should remove the filter from the housing in the camper and use just the blue one. I did, still do. I always ask at the office when checking in, what the pressure is. When in doubt, use your regulator!

Where have you located a source of purchasing the filter? I called WaterPur and they refer me to Forest River. I am currently having difficulty in Forest River identifying the cartridge to ship me. Thanks for any information you may offer.

Honestly though I find filters the same size at big box stores at a fraction of the price and they work just fine.....

I get my filters at Lowe's. Much cheaper. Remember, the less restrictive the filter is the less it filters. I use the gray carbon filters which will filter out bad taste and not lower the water pressure very much.

Holy mackerel that's cheap! Lowes or Home Depot got me for $20 for one!

Different brand and probably different filtration level, but it was as cheap as they had.
