Water Filter

We just bought a new TT in February..only had it out once..can someone tell me where the water filter goes..my manual is in the camper...not sure if I can get to it with the slides closed..I want to get it installed before Labor Day weekend..although I've heard so many people complain about the filter coming loose..do I really need to install?..it's a 831RESS btw

They seem to be in different places in different models, but all will generally have them near the city water / water pump. In my TT that's under driver's side bunk in the bunkhouse.

Just go outside to where your water connections are. Whatever's inside the trailer at that point is where it's most likely at. If you have a storage panel nearby, try opening that and then looking towards the water hookups. If not, you'll have to go from inside.

Ours is in a screwed shut (why the heck do they do that?) kitchen cabinet door.

DH is going to fill the screw holes and put a regular cabinet door latch on it. Makes NO sense to have to unscrew the door every time you want to check the filter system or replace the cartridge in the canister.

So, my advice is to look for a screwed shut cabinet door.

We also have the blue in-lite water hose filter so we're considering removing the in house filter altogether. I hear those cartridges are WAY expensive and can't be bought just anywhere.

Honestly don't bother with the factory one, get one that goes between the hose and the unit such as one of the blue ones I'm sure you've seen. The factory water filter is junk.

Personal preference of course, but you do get what you pay for. The hose filter (aka Walmart) will stop rocks and sand but that's about it @100 micron. The "factory" unit will filter chemicals and sediment down to 5 microns.

yooroo...with the whole house filter like you use mounted on the outside...what do you do with the filter in between trips when the trailer will be parked a while? The blue ones I was using from Walmart..I just put in the fridge between trips to prevent growth of different bacteria.

I have the exact same setup, change filters once a year, maybe twice, no growth algae etc. that I have noticed for the whole season.

your owner's manual would be useless anyway, since it's generic and has nothing at all, regarding your specific model or brand of RV.

There's a thread on here where supposedly the factory admitted the FR1 filter only went down to 45 microns.

I just replaced mine altogether with a GE 5 micron setup, it flows much better and filters are $12 a two pack.

I'll see if I can find that thread.

Course, I can't find it. I still would have replaced the whole housing, the cap kept unscrewing itself.

Is it on the right side or the left side of you or is it right in front?

If on the left or in front then yes.
