Water Filter for 2015 Windjammer
Just wondering what type & model/item # for a my water filter?? Also where do they sell them Home Depot/Lowes or only RV stores? I looked thru my paperwork and don't see anything on the water filter. Thanks, Cyndi

What does it says on your water filter enclosure: manufacturer and model #

I just priced one for my Windjammer at the rv dealer, they wanted $40.00,which I thought was a little expensive.I did not have the maker or model number, but I have the filter I took out last yr. I looked at walmart with no luck. Mine looks clean with only a few trips on it. Let me know if you locate one. Thanks

I bet you have the same FR1 water filter housing as I do. I actually talked to a guy from WaterPur. He claims the problems people are having with these filter housings (leaking and un-screwing) is caused by thinking they found a replacement filter at one of the Big Box stores. If the filter is just a shade longer the tabs won't catch and lock. He also said to use a silicone plumbers grease on the o-ring. Shop Danco Silicone Grease at Lowes.com (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SILICONE CAULKING)
Also, make sure the red arrow on the clear housing lines up the with pointer looking arrow on the top part of the white housing while screwing it on. It just happens that the red arrow on my the clear housing lines up with the pointer that's on the back of the housing when properly tightened. If that's your case, don't try to make another full revolution to get the red arrow on the front side. There are pointers on the front and back.
If you keep your FR1 filter system use only filters for the FR1. They are pricey compared to other whole house filters out there, but don't substitute and take a chance.

here's a picture of mine it shows that the label on housing with the red arrow is not on the front. It's on the back side which also has a pointer arrow showing that its lined up properly

The proper filter cartridge (KW1) is not expensive when compared to Home Despot, walbob, lows, etc. FR1 are about $30 on their web sight, and are good for 10,000 gallons and flow 2.5 gallons per minute. Kampin world filters sell for about the same money and only flow only .5 gallon per minute (try to take a shower in that). I am quite careful with my money, but all my research says that the original is our best choice for the $.

100% agree, they just seem pricey compared to $8.00 for a two pack for my whole house filter in my home.

If you noticed in my picture the 1 x 3 board that the filter bracket is attached to has (2) steel "T" supports braces. The first time I went to remove my filter to winterize the 1 x 3 board came completely off. The way the factory stapled this board in to attach the filter house to wasn't structural sound enough to hold anything. I got another 1 x 3 board (a inch or so long to overlap another stud) glued and screwed it to the back of the existing board and put (2) steel "T" support braces on it, Solid as a rock now.
Might also mention, the factory guy on the filters said I didn't have to replace the filter every year if it looked good and wasn't used a whole bunch that season. Just remove it when winterizing, let it air dry and re-use next season.

I wouldn't try to re-use a water filter.
Think about bacteria growth in there after a complete season on the shelf !!
No thanks, not for me !

Can I ask. Where is that filter located? I just purchased a 2015 Rockwood 8286ws fifth wheel and it came with a water filter in the draw. But I can't find the housing anywhere. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Look in the garage on the street side, there is probably a short panel held on with 4 screws, remove the panel and you will probably find the water pump and the filter.

No. No panels like that. I does make sense to be near the pump. I have to be missing something.

Sometimes it is underneath entertainment/TV center behind a door that has multiple hinges and one set needs to be removed, that is where mine is. Subwoofer could be there also.

Try RV Water Filter Store: Standard Filter Canisters for Whole RV. We have bought from them for years, We have a 2013 Windjammer and use their CBC-10 filter. If you have questions about fit they are very helpful and can get you to the correct filter. Don't panic about their shipping cost; when they ship they will adjust the cost down to actual cost.
I tried to give the actual site for The Water Filter Store and it was changed to the above. I guess I am not allowed to post an actual site. Oh well. Just google the above/
