Water Filter Plug

We have a Flagstaff 2019 26RBWS that came with a Waterpur RCS Housing using a KW1 filter. It is located under the bathroom sink cabinet in a very awkward position. When winterizing I remove the filter and throw it away. The housing then fills up with pink stuff. It is awkward enough that I can be sure of spilling some of it come spring when I am ready to flush out the system. Does anyone know of a plug that can be used instead of installing the filter housing? I would actually pay money for one.

I tried one and it leaked. Different size, but same type. I just put a towel under it when removing.

Also, why waste all of that pink stuff. When I am finished winterizing I empty the filter holder in the toilet. The empty

You need something like this:

But really, you should consider just eliminating the filter all together and use one of the Campco filters outside attached to your hose. This process is discussed here and many places on the forum.

Eliminate it. It causes nothing but aggravation. Use the blue CAMCO filter and forget it.

I put a bigger size water bottle in the housing when I winterize. Cuts down on the amount of antifreeze that gets into the housing.

If you want to keep it, You can also install bypass kit around it, like you have on your hot water tank. That way you can bypass when adding antifreeze, or if you ever have a leak issue.

Or like others have said, eliminate it.

Your choice.

Thanks for the idea of dumping the pink filled filter in the toilet but once I thought it through I realized it just added to the number of steps under the sink. But thanks again.

Thanks but I bought six filters, super cheap from the manufacturer at the F.R.O.G. rally last summer. So that is a six year supply and they were cheaper than the Campco filters.

Not to sound like a pessimist, but that's 6 years of unscrewing the canister, hoping it doesn't crack or spill water/antifreeze. The bypass does sound enticing, but then again, you still have to contend with emptying the canister of water. Make sure you get all the water out of the threads. Even that minute amount will freeze and crack plastic.
