Water gushing from mystery pipes
Hi,
I am hoping someone will be able to shed some light on my water issues. We opened our 2001 Coachmen Deluxe 5th wheel, hooked up the water hose to the city connection, no water. I googled the issue and then installed a new connection. I now have water gushing from a pipe under my RV. Maybe an overflow pipe, I don’t believe these are drain pipes as I can see two capped pipes just up from the mystery pipes. Any thoughts on how I may have screwed up would be greatly appreciated.

Are you positive you hooked up to city and not your FW tank fill. Sounds like your over flow spitting out water. Check the level in the FW tank try turning on your pump with the city water off and see what you get. Let the forum know what you find and correct.

Sounds like the overflow from the freshwater tank to me too. I made that mistake myself.

Positive I am hooked up to the city connection, it’s one of the few things on my RV that is clearly labeled. I am wondering if when we changed the city connection valve if it was now filling the fresh water tank, but I am assuming that it would take some time to do this. We had water gushing out of what I can only guess is the overflow pipe within minutes of turning the water on.

Did you winterize your rig?

I had it winterized, as I was nervous about doing it myself and doing it incorrectly.

Understandable and I asked since you mentioned "mystery pipe".
Having a done the winterization yourself you would likely have a good understanding of the plumbing system and not be confused by what pipes are what.
With that said, It is tough for us to guess as to where the water is gushing out.
Maybe a broken pipe from being frozen?
I would call whomever you had winterize the rig.
If a pipe froze and broke, it would be their responsibility to repair.
Short of that, you are going to have to determine exactly what the pipe is connected to where the water is coming out to be able to accurately diagnose and fix it. Until then we are all just guessing and giving examples of things to look at.

What is above this pipe? Could it be going to your hot water heater for the pressure release valve? The valve might have been left open when it was winterized.

What connection did you install? If this Mystery pipe has no valve on it it is your FW overflow pipe. Should be 2 ! with a valve and 1 without. Both pipes would be white or clear. Please describe these Mystery pipes. If they are red and blue with valves they are your low point drains.

i'm making some assumptions. you say a pipe (hose?) under your rv. if it is under the rv it is almost certainly not a pipe that is used to distribute the water to the faucets, toilet, shower. you say you have two pipes with caps on them. i'm assuming those are the low point drains. that would only leave the fresh water tank drain or fresh water tank overflow tube going under the trailer. does it have a thread on it or is it just a cut end? if it has a thread it is probably the fresh water tank drain. if just a cut end it is most probably the fresh water tank overflow. I don't think you screwed up anything. sounds like you are directing the input water to the fresh water tank and it is full and overflowing, or just draining out an uncapped drain tube.

any chance that's the low point drain and the cap is missing? Those would leak on city or FW tank.

This is what the connection that we installed is like. Both mystery pipes are white, no valves or threads. They are behind the black and grey water discharge pipe. Now I wish I had been smart enough to take pictures, but it was pretty muddy under the fifth wheel from all the water. Will take pics next weekend when we go back up.
