Water inlet 90 degree elbow

Newbie question alert!! [emoji16]
What is the proper protocol for the 90 degree elbow for the city water inlet - do y’all keep it on there all the time or remove each time you leave the camp ground? Seems to me the plastic inlet would wear easily with constant attach/detach of water hose.
Thanks

I remove it. Been using it for 2 yrs, no wear yet. Would be no different if you were connecting the water hose directly to the inlet without the elbow.

We used one on our tt for almost 4 years with no problem til we changed rigs.

Always removed it before traveling.

Remove it. The guy behind you may not be happy if it vibrates off.

I have also always removed it - goes in the tote with the splitter, water regulator, water filter, etc. part of the routine

Leave it on

I always leave it on. One less thing to worry about. Never had it vibrate loose l

Take it off and cap the connection per design.

If you leave it on, I'd suggest you buy a cap for it.

I have put quick connect fittings on the water in let and a different style one on the black tank rinse. then use a chair leg rubber foot to cover the open end when not hooked up makes fast work of setup and not messing with the hose threads.

Our plastic inlet has a rubber plug. It works as well on the inlet side of the 90 as it did on the plastic. I see no reason to remove mine.

It comes off for one reason, once a year. So I can screw on a brass fitting that lets me use compressed air to remove winterize the camper.

The place we bought our camper from purposely put the spare tire in the front of the water inlet so they could sell us a 90 for city water. I told them to move the spare tire. Problem solved.

our water inlet is inside the exterior door on the left side where the dump valves and outside shower are located.

The hose inlet is on the bottom so the hose is coming straight up to an inlet that is horizontal. The 90 degree fitting is not required but VERY handy.

I think WHERE it's located is also an issue. If yours is inside a "docking station" or bay, that's a different situation than if it's hanging out of the side the rig, as mine would be.

Agreed, but on my previous camper, where it was outside, I didn't use one at all.

I didnt see a need for it

I use mine because 1) it puts less strain on the water connection and 2) it allows me to coil the excess hose under the TT so things look neater.

Ours i son the back side of the camper. I only look there when setting up and when loading to come home, don't pay much attention to neatness there.

In the side we live on, I pay close attention though.
