Water lines

Wandering if any one had the problem I had a week or so ago. on our last trip I noticed a little water was dripping around the water connection but it was coming from the inside. So looked back and the hose that attached on the inside was dripping. I reached in and tried to tighten but no luck. i pulled it apart and checked seal and looked good. put back together and notice everty connection on those types of hoses were leaking. Mine is set up with city coming into a T. the other side of the t goes to the pump and then to the water filter. All three were leaking. I tighten and no luck. So off to the hardware store. Luckily on my Cherokee they are standard 1/2" connection so was able to spend 28.00 for three hoses already made. They are the flex hoses used for kitchen sinks or toilets with 1/2" connections on both end. It seems to be fixed but not sure why all those other hoses were leaking. Everyone may want to watch those. My rig is only 2 years old and I am in Central tx so would not think it would of been a freezing issue. Is an easy fix

Are the originals you replaced made of a plastic or nylon type nut? It's possible the threads inside the nuts had been damaged due to over tightening and over the period of time loosened. Did you try teflon tape on any of the connections before replacing the hoses. I've had this situation on my previous trailer. We were on vacation for a week and didn't have any leaks. After we got home I connected my hose to the trailer to flush out my tank and lines since our next trip was about 6 weeks later. I had 2 leaks similar to what you described. I tightened them and they still leaked but stopped once I used the teflon tape. We didn't have another leak for the remaining 2 years we kept the trailer.This trailer was a Keystone Litehouse though but the plumbing fittings most likely are the same.

All our piping is PEX but it sounds like those on yours aren't. Glad you could find replacments so easily. The ends of those hoses could have all been from the same run and there could have been a problem with the crimps or the ends themselves.

If they didn't leak while at a campground but did at home, perhaps the water pressure at your home exceeded the recommended 40 lbs of pressure for the rv plumbing. Did you have pressure regulator on at the time?

Yes I used the water pressure regulator. I have well water at home and the pressure tank tops out at 50 PSI. My regulator is attached to my hose even when I store it. It still is now with the motorhome ever since I left one behind on a trip.

Mine leaked at the inlet to the Fresh water tank. It had an automotive type hose clamp that I tightened up, BUT it still leaked, so the tech at Dick Gore's RV world put silicone sealer on the connection, and then installed 2 auto hose clamps. So far, no more leaks.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago when I hooked up the water to the trailer at home, but I did it without the pressure regulator. I pulled the panel out to check the hose and I saw a small leak at one of the connections. After making sure it was tight, I turned the water back on, still no pressure regulator, and a tiny drop came out once and then it stopped. So now I'm wondering if something got damaged, or if it may be okay when I use the regulator.

Is it possible that there is air in the line? After that drip you may have had air that was coming out instead of water. I'd hook up that regulator, turn on the water hose and open all faucets to be sure you have removed all air and your leak is fixed. It's easier to deal with at home than on the road.

It has been a while since I have been back on. I did have regulator on so was not pressure. These hoses had ruber seals in the back. never had any luck with teflon on these types of hoses. the one spot did leake while camping but he others connections did not till I started messing with it. i may of had air in the lines but it was dripping pretty good.

We have been leaving in our trailer since Nov. 29th.

I had four leaks. The first one at the inlet for the city water was found before I picked up my TT. The dealer repaired it.

The second was at the outlet of my water pump. I could not get it tight enough and another RVer suggested that I use teflon tape and that fixed it.

The third one was at the input for the Black water tank flush. It was barely put together. I took it completely apart. I had to remove the plate on the side of the trailer. After tightening it up and putting it back together it is now OK.

The third leak was at the T that splits the water from the pump to the hot water heater and the cold water feed to the rest of the trailer. It is one of those small Ts that are crimped in. Fortunately when it is cut out of the system a pressure fit T is the right size to replace the crimped T. I purchased the pressure T from Camping World and now I have no leaks for the last month.

This idea may rank with the uber paranoid.. But how old is your pressure regulator? They do go bad and as far as I can tell there is no good indicator..

I use the cheap ones and replace them when my Spidey Sense tingles.
