Water not draining from shower tub

Hi all

I finally got the chance to try my new (to me) Wolf Pup 16FQ (2016). I went on a KOA campground with full hook up to check the systems, and everything seems to be ok.

The only problem is that when the the gray tank reached the 3/4 level (as per the inside check), the water stopped draining from the shower tub, which sounds kind of strange because as long as I can see the gray tank is way lower. And we got to 3/4 in a little more than a day with two people (two showers, dish washing, cooking and so on), which can be a problem if I go in a place without hookup. Any case discharging the tank was enough to have the water flow out of the tub.

Is that normal or could it be a problem somewhere in the lines?

Inside level indicators are notoriously inaccurate. When it's full, it's full. Take Navy showers and learn to conserve what goes into grey.

The black and grey tank level indicators are notoriously inaccurate. Showers and washing dishes can fill a grey water tank (depending on the showers). Water not draining out of the shower basin is a pretty good sign the grey tank was full.

Lights are for show.

If the water is backing up in the drain of the bathtub/shower.....you’re full.
That’s the lowest point of your plumbing and it has no other choice but the gray tank.

And are you absolutely sure your shower drains to the gray tank? The shower on my 21DS drains to the black tank which is positioned directly under both the shower and the toilet.

Yeah...on the other hand, our gray water use is a bit more than black water use so there's a bit of "lemonade". Also, some soapy water added to the black tank would be beneficial.

Most camping for us is at campgrounds so it really doesn't matter much to us since we use campground showers. Boondocking could be a different matter.

Oh boy... Well, if I can judge from the color, that was gray water... I really hope it was!

Your gray water tank is full. Since you have full hookups, connect the sewer hose and drain the tank. Don’t trust the monitor panel. They aren’t very accurate.

Sorry, going slightly askew of the topic.

You now know how much water you use over a given time frame. It takes most people longer to figure that one out. If you really want to go longer between drains, you next need to start doing things to conserve that tank capacity. Most are normal for drought areas, but here are some hints. Take shorter showers. Turn the water off, while lathering up (there should be a button on the shower head to do that) - notice, turn the shower head away from you, when you turn it back on...you don't want to get a very hot or very cold blast of water! Don't let water run in the sink for longer than you absolutely need to in order to rinse things, etc. Use less water to wash the dishes. Don't let the water run, while brushing teeth, etc. If you do these things, you will notice you can go much longer between tank drains.

I only offered these suggestions, because you mentioned you may someday want to boondock or stay where there aren't sewer hookups. You can find other suggestions on Youtube and by searching the forums for ways to conserve water.
