Water Problem

I have a 2014 Flagstaff V-Lite, my problem is that when I hook up water from an outside source and turn the water on, the water trickles out the fitting to winterize my camper, the fitting under the cable connection. I live in Fla my camper has never been winterized. When I use the water pump, it sucks air from the same fitting! Help!! [ATTACH]145007

If you'll look at the piping near the water pump, you should see a couple of valves. What you're looking for will be a three way valve on the suction side of the water pump. Follow the hose from the winterizing connection and you should run into it. In one position, the pump pulls from the water tank and, in the other, it pulls from the winterizing connection. My guess is that it's set up to winterize. Just turn the valve the other direction.

That it's leaking from the city connection to the antifreeze connection suggests another problem. It's possible that the check valve in the water pump is stuck. Sometimes running the pump will unstick it.

It just started this, so I'll run the pump and see if that will solve the problem. Thanks

City getting water to AF suction outside port means it is Passing threw the Pump! Sucking sound from this Port when on Fresh Water Tank means 3 way valve Issue! Youroo!!

It does seem to be sucking air from the AF connection when I use the pump. Currently I'm 400 mikes from home! Any short term quick fixes/suggestions?

My guess is you've got both problems...a sticking check valve and a leaking three way valve. Neither are hard to fix aside from possibly standing on your head to get to something. Probably took both happening to notice it.

Short term....if bumping the pump a few times doesn't unstick it, there's not a lot you can do until you replace it. It will EVENTUALLY fill your water tank so keep that in mind. If it's not leaking badly and your tank is empty, I'd just open the freshwater drain and let it go. The other option is to just turn on the water when you need it.

It will if he's leaking past the pump while on city water though.

That is another option though...use the water tank only and plug the antifreeze connection. That will work too, just watch the hose connection where the antifreeze connection goes inside the trailer just in case it leaks from any back pressure.

You could do that. The thing is, that if you're leaking past the pump (which it has to be to get from city water to AF connection), then there are only two places for it to go. Either out the AF connection, or into the FW tank..or both. Whether or not I'd do that would depend on how much water is leaking by and if I had FW in my tank that I wanted to keep or not.

I'd opt for yooroos's suggestion and run off the water tank for now OR turn the water on / off as needed and check the FW tank level...whichever is less of a pain.

Has anyone out here thought....HEY !!! maybe the valve for winterizing...Isn't Closed all the way ??? Don't you think you should check the valves first and make sure they are either fully open or fully closed depending on how they should be ?? When my lamp stops working...I don't tear the lamp apart looking for the issue...First I see if it's plugged in, then I change the bulb.

I totally agree with what Wolfpaq is saying, but this just started Saturday and like I said I live in Jax Fla, winter only last a couple of days! So there's no reason for that valve to be open, even a little bit.

No reason, but years of vibration, fumbling around in that area, or the valve is simply getting old. It's something to check and a simple one at that.
I have to winterize where I live and one spring, after flushing, I wasn't getting water from the FWT...I found that I didn't close the valve that goes to the line that I draw antifreeze from...the hose was sucking air and wouldn't allow the pump to self prime.

Calvin: Be aware that you may NOT have a 3-way valve on the suction of the pump; you may have 2 separate valves - one for the AF connection and one for the FW tank. See the attached diagram, left side. My Roo 19 had 2 valves, my Micro Lite has the 3-way.
