I agree with AquaMan, I don't understand what your problem is?

With city water connected there is no need to turn your pump on.
The pressure from the city water connection supplies the water throughout your plumbing.

To draw from your on-board fresh water tank, you utilize the water pump.

Now... there will be someone who chimes in and says you can use your pump and city water at the same time and that is true IF the city water pressure is so low that you hardly have any flow. Turning the pump on in those instances, supplements the city water with additional water via the pump and fresh water tank.

Normally... city water hook-up=no pump.
No city water hook-up=pump/fresh water tank

I only need it when the park does maintenance and has to shut off the water etc. it's nice to know if needed at 0500 to shower I can flip the button vs unhooking my city water outside. That's my problem. It's not working both ways like it should so I would like to find out the problem so I can resolve the problem.

I'm aware of everything being said and I'm no fool, I understand how it works. But if something isn't working on your rig don't you like to know why? I only need it when the city water is shut off by the park which does happen sometimes.

So, can we assume what you've said in your two posts describing the problem...

1. With the city water hose disconnected, the pump works fine.

2. with the city water hose connected (and there is no pressure in that side of the system because the campground is doing maintenance) the pump won't come on when there is a demand for water?

Yes, I know that and I would appreciate you not being rude about it. BEFORE, my water pump FROZE it worked both ways!! And also in my other rig it did as well. I could turn it on while still hooked to city water and it worked fine. And I realize city water has nothing to do with the pump!

If your water pump worked while on city water something was wrong

We are not being rude.
We have been at this RVing stuff for many years.
WE ALL agree with city water connected your 12v pump will NOT run.
As mentioned before by several folks-- shut off the city water.
Open a faucet to relieve pressure.
Turn on pump.
Pump should run and pump water assuming you have water in your fresh
water holding tank.
If that happens your pump is functioning perfectly.

Grab a cold one and don't fret!
