What a great place for answers.

Very Very hard to 'break'. Usually the biggest problem is to get a small piece of sediment in the pump back flow stop and it will then allow water to flow back into your freshwater tank. Very easy to take apart and search for any foreign material. If you use City or Campground hookups, buy a pressure reducer to put on your water hose. The water pressure at these places can very widely and you do not want to have your camper lines blown apart or a leak started. Very cheap adapter, very cheap insurance.
