Water Pump Question
We are very new to camping and took our camper out for the first time this weekend - 26DBH. The water pump never shuts off - we powered it up the first time just like the manual said to and there really isn't any air issues in the water line the pump just continues to run. Suggestion on what to do please. Thanks.

A loss of pressure will cause a pump to run.
A loss of pressure indicates a leak, likely from a loose connection.
Had this problem with the lite, dealer found loose fittings at the water pump and water on the floor behind a panel.

Do you have water coming out of the faucets when you turn the pump on ?

If the faucet is off there is no water coming out of them. The pump just continues to run.

If you have filled your water heater with water and opened a faucet and got the air out of the lines and are SURE the fresh water tank has plenty of water in it-- you may just have a defective pump.
Are you leaving the pump on long enough?? It could take 5 min or more to fill the water heater tank.
After that it should shut off- assuming you have plenty of water in the fresh tank.

Got back to town and filled the tank back up and started the pump - it ran for 15 minutes straight and never shut off. Getting a little frustrated with this.

Check the bathroom toilet. It may not be 'shut off' and running all the time.
Are the low point drain plugs closed fully?

Can you see the water pump? Look for a loose connection and see if any water is coming out. Look at your water heater with the pump on, is any air/water coming out of the pressure release valve. Is the 'drain' to the water heater closed all the way?
I had a loose connection inside one of the walls and water coming from under the wall and the dealer had to peel the wall back and tighten it up.
If you have an access panel that goes under/beside your tub, open it up and look in there for a leak that may be behind the shower facet.
Do you have and outside faucet?

If you have tried all 8 suggestions and still no joy, it is probably the check valve at the outlet side of the pump. When the pump builds up enough pressure a pressure switch turns the pump off, however if the check valve leaks back the pressure switch won't turn off the pump. Sometimes you can seat that valve by turning off the pump and using the outside city pressure source. Also if you do that and your trailer potable tank starts filling slowly you will know that it is in fact the check valve. Good Luck

This just went to the top of my check list. Very good suggestion prairiecamper. KyDan suggested a bad pump also.
checking the check valve should be the very next item to do. I have heard of brand new pumps having check valve issues.

Typically even a small leak or drip would not keep the pump running non stop. It would build pressure and then shut off. It may cycle a lot but it shouldn't run full time unless you have a decent leak. My guess is the pressure switch is bad on the pump.
