Water Pump Winterizing Question

We winterized our SS 3170DS utilizing the water pump to draw antifreeze into the lines, should the valve controlling the siphon hose be left open or closed after winterizing? Thanks.

I always leave mine in the winterize position so there's no chance of antifreeze from the pump running back down the plumbing into the fresh water tank.

Also leave it in that position so that when dewinterizing, I first connect a bucket full of clean water to the antifreeze inlet and pump some fresh water through the pump before switching to the city water inlet. Since the pump has a built in check valve to keep the city water from back-flowing into the pump/fresh water tank, this method gets all the antifreeze out of the pump should you decide to use it for fresh water down the road.
