About the same amount of Dawn and No it does not make a lot of suds. Besides your going down the road to clean and let sit then dump at a later time.

Dawn would be better in the grey tank since there's more grease in there and the blue Dawn is great for cutting grease. We've been using liquid laundry detergent with the Geo Method in the black water tank and liquid dishwasher soap with the Geo Method in the grey water tank. The sensors in the black tank will show empty but not the grey tank. Time to try something else, so we've started using Pinesol and SuperClean as recommended by OldCoot.

Then I mix in the laundry soap, Calgon and bleach in the bucket of jot water. Then I pour a bucket into the toilet and another down the kitchen sink. I also use my black tank flush after every trip. So far so good.

How often do you do the geo solution?

I have no problem using Dawn. That's what I was told on this forum. When you let it sit, any foam there may be is gone.

We have soft water @ home,,, that is what I put in our FW tank !!!
We also use Dawn to wash the few things we do not want in the D/W,,,
With soft water Dawn produces a TON of suds !!!

You are cleaning the black tank driving down the road then letting it sit. I just did this. Put it in before I came home. Its been sitting now foe two weeks. When I go out again I will dump when I get there. I am talking about a three hour drive each way. Never have I had a problem with doing it this way. If the sensors are really messed up I dump in two bags of ice cubes and that seams to do the trick. I have been doing it this way since I first heard about it in 2012!

In not using a whole bottle, just enough to cover the ball valve.

When I first looked up the GEO Method,,, I think it called for Laundry Detergent ??? I thought the question about using Softener Pellets in the Black tank was an excellent question !!!
I also add a little Tank Deodorant when the weather is real hot.

I only dump so I can see what comes out. I don't do it all the time, maybe once every couple months. We are out at least once a month so it stays pretty clean.

I would think with soft water you can leave out the Calgon.

Mark29, I use the Geo solution a lot. At least every other dump. Now that I'm retired, we tend to camp for several days (10 or more) each trip. I don't always get the opportunity to flush my black tank when dumping on the road. However, when we get home, I do a thorough cleaning. Then I put a fresh Geo solution in the tank and drive the Motorhome up to the gas station for a fill up and then back home. That way it's ready for the next trip. I can honestly say I have had very few if any issues with my tanks and the tank level gauges seem to be pretty accurate most of the times. Maybe I'm just lucky and it has nothing to do with the Geo solution. But I don't see me changing what aint broke.
