Your "hose bin" will disappear.
Next step is a 10 footer to paint black for the turboflush.

There is also that silly hose that shrinks that you see all the time on tv, but I think it wouldn't last. Probably just surgical tubing in a sock.
You are correct, those green shrinking hoses do *not* last. I stepped on ours *ONCE* while it was inflated/full of water and it split...about a 2 inch split. Just the "inner tube" split, not the outter fabric.

Won't buy another one, that's for sure. It lasted about a month. I used it for watering my many hibiscus plants on the back patio.

I looked at one of those "green shrinking hoses" at the grocery store. The inside diameter of that thing is so tiny, or maybe it was just the exit orifice that was tiny to build pressure inside so it would expand. Either way, I can't imagine you'd get much water flow thru it.

I use one for my black tank flush and it's great for that. I've only used it about 10 times so far so not sure of durability. I link herks idea of painting a flat hose black for that purpose.

Another great idea. I did go to CW today and got 2 ten footers and the 25'. Not only will I take your advice and get another 10' piece and paint it black but I also plan to do the sewer hose mod with 5" square pvc fence post you and others have posted about on another thread. Thanks again for the ideas!

I use 25 ft hoses and roll them up then connect the ends togother and secure them with velco. Most of the time one 25 will work unless you are at a state park that is when I pull more out.

That's we've done up to this point but I like the idea of rolling the hose up on the real instead of wrestling it into a bin. Plus, I'm trying to reduce the size of the bins needed to store hoses and accessories. Gonna give it a shot!

I pick up 50 ft standard white RV from Walmart for 11 bucks CDN, I store them in mesh sacks (oranges, firewood etc) come in. I have used 4 of them at a Provincial Park to fill the tank. Also use the free dealer hose(only 1/2 inch) for black water uses.

I roll my 50 ft white hose up on an electrical cord reel works very well. I use a 25ft for most of my full hook ups. I try not to boondock if i dont have to :-)

I have always thought that the white hoses were for drinking water. Other hoses were not clear of chemicals and shouldn't be used for potable water. White hoses don't have that hose taste.

Not really totally true. They are for potable water, but they are drinking water safe. There is a difference. This day and age lots of people do not drink water out of a hose pipe. And not all "white" hoses are for potable. Most are, but it is best to read the label. There are also blue hoses that make the claim they are for drinking water.

It's amazing I'm still alive. I used to drink from the garden hose all the time when I was growing up (and still do). I think the biggest issue with the "white" hose is that it does not have any lead contamination in it. Taste is secondary but good to have clean taste. And, taste can depend on water supply source anyway.

We have two 10 foot sections that fit in 1 gallon ziploc bags and the 25 foot section that fits on a rollup that forces the water out as you roll it up.
Henk do you have to pull it all the way off the reel when u r using it.If so I would be better off with 2 25ft ones. I don't see how you can use it on the reel

Handi Hose

Sorry I need to revive this thread. I'm getting ready to purchase all new hoses for this year and have had my eye on the Handi Hose and saw this thread.
My hesitations are that I hear they kink easily and often. Also we like to be able to leave the constant pressure there, will the Handi-Hose last?

And then most importatly, unlike those green "pocket" hoses, what is the INSIDE diameter of the Handi-Hose? I bought a "pocket" hose once and found that the hose expanded but the inside diameter was only like 1/4 in thus largely reducing the flow/pressure.

I want to use the Handi-Hose for fresh water fill and full hookup specifically.

P.S. I don't want to have to worry that the kids might step or kick a hose and result in a kink.

Herk I see you have a couple, lemme know your take.

Thanks

Handi-Hose all in trash can; hated them. Bad taste if water sits in them. OK for your "shower" hose; I guess.

Have the Camping World white flat roll up hoses currently; and they also "kink" and they need to be completely unrolled to work; but no bad taste. They get really dirty and a beeache to get clean.

Still looking for a viable solution. Good luck.

I always soak our white hoses in a tote of bleach water at end of season to clean them up before storing for winter - have done this for several years - cheaper than buying new just because it is dirty

Ours is out all summer at seasonal spot

Ah, I was referring to the "slinky" hose you see on TV.

That "Handi-Hose" is the one I am using now and have burned through several. Mostly leaks where the brass fitting attaches to the flat hose and pin holes from laying on the ground.

While I have not gone back to the "tried and true; but bulky" white water hose (YET), I have thought about it often. Mostly when I went out to get something out of the back compartment and stepped in the giant puddle.

There HAS to be a better way.
