WaterPur filter holder will NOT come off

I just purchased a 2004 34' Georgetown RV it has a WaterPur system installed in the compartment underneath where you hook up the water hose. I cannot for the life of me get the acrylic housing unscrewed to change the filter. I do have the special tool to grab it and twist but it will not budge. Any suggestions? Or should I just break it off and buy a new one?

Make sure the water system is (NOT) pressurized! Open a water source inside, let it drain. The filter housing will now come off. Youroo!!

If it is not to hard just remove the whole thing and get it on a bench and then try to remove the housing.
Place a towel or two under it to catch any water in the lines when you unhook them.

If you break it then it was time to replace it anyway.
