what could these be for?
I took off the panel in my basement for the first time. Found an unused faceplate and 2 electrical end wires with plugs.
These are located by the freshwater tank and pump. Every thing works, I was just doing some spring cleaning. And how would I find out what the wires could be used for.
Thanks for any suggestions.

That faceplate looks like it goes to a gfci outlet.

It will fit most RV outlets, not just GFCI's. Either you've got an outlet without a faceplate, OR they dropped the faceplate and didn't bother to go retrieve it.

wires
and hanging just to the upper right corner of the face plate are 2 wires, yellow and white with plugs at the end. Can't tell where they come from because they wind out of the large pile of spaghetti wires. wondering if they could be used to add an outlet that should have been there but they didn't put it in... since the face plate is there... I could maybe add the outlet into the basement. it would be very handy to have power in the basement storage.

The white and yellow wire should be low voltage (12v). You can take a meter or test light to see if it's live. The barrel ends on the wire look as though you can either get a male connector and insert it or it could be a crimp connection.
I guess it could be for a function not on your unit or just for possible end user use.

My first thought would be that they are live and the worker just capped them off, maybe they were initially for an additional socket, or power source for extras.
If you know how maybe get a volt meter and check it out.

If it was 110VAC, it would Romex type wiring (2 wires plus a ground in the same jacketing insulation, like the blue wire for the electric element in my water heater in the pic below), not separate wires.

I've got about 5 weeks til I hit the road again for my next volunteer spot and my sons are electricians going to hope to get both 12v and a 110 outlets in the basement... woohoo...

I have heated holding gray and black tanks. The switch is right by the othEr controls. With the water tank enclosed I wouldn't think it would need heating. I will check other models. And see if theres something else down there.

I'm with "rockfordroo" about the faceplate, someone dropped it at the factory and just grabbed another one to keep the line going. As far as the wires, I've done some electrical work on friends RV's and found the wiring to be something weird from unit to unit. The RV manufacturer's do not follow any electrical code that I have ever studied. Here is my 2 cents worth: The wires in the photo that are capped off were made into a wiring harness which was placed in your unit. This same harness can/could be used on an infinite number of units whether motorhome, 5-er, or pull trailer. I"m also betting that the yellow wire is a 12vDC hot wire and the plain white wire is the 12vDC ground. Using a wire tester for 12 volt circuits will confirm this. The bottom line: Don't worry over them, they are fine.
