When hooked up to a campground sewer system

OK, lets have a poll as to what folks do when they are hooked up to a campground sewer system.

Nothing...until the tanks get full or I leave (whichever comes first), then I dump black first then the gray.

I usually connect the hose as part of the initial camp set up, but I leave the valves closed.

This is a trick question, right?

Don't see a poll...

We leave grey and black closed until it's time to empty. Making sure we have grey water left for rinsing the slinky...

Black tank valve closed until ready to dump with plenty water. Grey tank valve open until night before we leave, then I close it to have water in grey tank for final flush of sewage hose the day we leave. Also rinse black tank with integrated black tank flusher.

Nope, it's in response to the other thread.

For us, it's everything closed until it's time to leave, or until the kids fill a tank, whichever comes first. Black tank flushing only on final dump before leaving CG.

Black tank when needed, gray as needed.

Our first/last trip dumped the black once on the day we left the gray got near full on the third day so I dumped about half.

Black has a washout system so keeping the gray to flush after the black just saves a little water.

It depends on how long I'll be at the park. The black tank always stay closed until at least 2/3 full...always.

The grey tanks are another story. On short 2 or 3 day camping trips both grey tanks stay closed until ready to dump. When we're at one location for an extended period of time, as we were in Gulf Shores, I leave the shower tank open and the kitchen tank closed. When I dump the black water I follow that with a 15 minute black tank flush and then drain the kitchen tank.

I keep closed to prevent pest intrusion.

Black and gray remain closed till either tank is at least 2/3 full. Black dumped first then closed then gray and then closed and both remain closed till next time a dump is needed.

Black closed until almost full, gray water always open, with 5 people in our camper the gray tank fill up really fast! I close the gray in the morning the day we're leaving.

Definitely not a trick question. We just want honest answers to what everyone does. It was mentioned on another thread that 75% leave their grey tank valves open and I just wanted to see if it were factual. No tricks, controversy, snide comments, just what do you do.

Noted, and I was (mostly) kidding, as I hadn't read up on the related thread.

I would think leaving the grey valve open would let odor back through the camper, no?

Unless perhaps you run your sewer hose so that it has a dip / trap in it.

Dump as needed even with 5 grownups along we can usually get at least weekend out the the tanks.

Black first then grey but if grey fills up 1st either dump one grey tank or part of both just depends...........
