Where to place the winterizing Valve

Guess it's that time of year....I recently purchased the "Camco Converter Winterizing Kit" that attaches to the water pump. The issue I am having is the location to install it? Do I put it before or after (after being nearer the pump) the little strainer filter? Looking on line I see mention of both positions....sorry if this has been covered before and I couldn't find it

I say before... because then you are protecting any fluid in the strainer. JMHO.

Here are a couple pics of my setup, I have the bypass for the hot water heater BUT the small strainer on the intake side of the WP is clamped mot screwed....so I would have to figure out another way to connect the brass bypass maybe I'll just go with the ole hand pump for the antifreeze...

He is talking about the kit to put antifreeze in his lines, that is the water heater bypass.
I put mine on the inlet before the filter.

Striker57 IS the OP!
He posted a photo of his water heater bypass lines AND a photo of his pump/suction strainer.

Striker57: Ideally you want it before the strainer to protect it. As you mentioned however, the connections don't always easily work. I had the same issue, the strainer was connected directly to the pex line coming out of the fresh water tank. I would need to pick up add'l parts to connect the valve before the strainer, but could connect it between strainer and pump with the existing connectors. That's what i did, i just have to remember to open and get the water out of the strainer when I winterize.

I installed my kit after the strainer. No need to run antifreeze through the strainer. Once the antifreeze is in the system I leave the valve lever in the up position, remove the strainer bowl, dump out the water, clean it, rinse the screen, dry it all and reinstall it. Come spring all I have to do is run the sanitization process through the system to flush the antifreeze out.

Thanks to all of you for the advice....finally got it installed...had to place it between the strainer/filter and the water pump...took awhile to get the pump to pull the anti freeze out but after tipping the container abit it started sucking. Got the Wolf Pup all set for winter. Still have to do some seal and slide lube though... Again, Thank You
