X2, as little critters/bugs may climb up in there and would now be in your water system........ and it also keeps the threads from rusting in the off-season, which can make installing the rod a lot harder come spring.
I actually keep my anode rod in, after draining.
Of course down here in the gumbo mud South, it's just now really getting camping weather. I do more camping from October to April, than any other time of the year.
