Hi, having difficulty starting a thread on a winterizing question
I have a 2018 Mini Lite 2507S and cannot get the outside antifreeze port to work. Dealer was never much help. Any clues you could pass along ? Thanks !!

I'll see if I can get the mods to move this to the proper place for you.

Could you elaborate a little more on this "Outside Anti-Freeze Port." Not sure I'm following.

2018 Cherokee 304 and I slide underneath and disconnect the hose coming from a Tee at the Fresh water tank to the water pump. I attach a barbed fitting and short length of tubing to the barb, screw that into the FW hose, stick other end in bucket filled with AF. I turn on water pump, go to all faucets and turn on till it runs pink and shut off.

Wolf, many units now come with a antifreeze/winterization inlet port right on the side of the R/V. No crawling underneath.
Mine does.

You simply turn a valve, (usually located near the pump) attach a short hose to the inlet port, into a jug and the pump will suck from the winterization port rather than the fresh tank.

I moved it although I can’t understand how it could be started but in an incorrect sub-forum.

Understood. Thanks! I don't know either?

2018mini2507S, have you looked in the library and the FAQ sections here?
I see this was your 1st post.
Welcome!

Winterization threads abound this time of year.

Yes I did spend a few minutes looking through the library.
I could not find anything on the exterior antifreeze port in a Rockwood Mini Lite

Right before the water pump (mine is behind a screwed closed panel in the bathroom) is a valve that changes the pump input from city water to the RV anti-freeze port.

Before you put the RV (PINK) antifreeze in, I drop the water filter canister and remove the filter. I drop an empty (CLOSED) plastic water bottle in its place to take up some volume so it won't fill the plastic canister with over a quart of RV antifreeze.

Make sure you isolate the water heater! Drain it from the outside after you isolate it with the bypass valves.

Read 5picker's post # 4 above. Did you turn the valve near your pump to divert the intake? You of course also have to turn the pump on. If that doesn't work, maybe tell us everything you have done?

Winterization

Antifreeze in the bucket, hose in the bucket connected to the outside antifreeze port
Water heater by-passed
Valve turned by the pump-and the pump turned on
All water lines were blown out before I started

No antifreeze brought in by the pump...
?????????

I experienced the same thing. Nothing was happening. I even put my hand on the pump to make sure it was operating. It took a minute or so for the pump to prime, but once it did, the antifreeze level in the jug started to drop.

I've had times where the pump wouldn't begin to suck until a faucet was opened. Also, If you're using a LONG hose to go into the jug and the jug is sitting on the ground, raise the jug and even shorten the hose.

Thanks for that pic. Never seen that before. Nice to know.

Raise the end of the hose above the AF port, pour some AF into it to fill the hose, put your thumb over the end, then put it back in the bucket of AF. Then try it.
