Winterizing Shasta 30BH

I wanted to confirm what to do to winterize the trailer because I just picked it up half way through the season for a permanent spot.

Should I be taking the paneling off underneath to fully drain the tanks or is using the drain on the side of the trailer enough? I know that I need to flush the black water tank as well and use the low point drain to get most of the water out of the lines.

I would take it in to get it done but I like doing stuff like this in my own and my previous trailer was very old and didn't have any tanks. Just a portable toilet in it.

Any help would be appreciated.

You don't need to take any panels off, using the low point drains for the hot and cold lines and the fresh water tank and the drain on the water heater is sufficient. But you will want to fill the lines with RV antifreeze, using the bypass valves on the water heater after you have drained it. There are some good how to videos on YouTube from some of the larger RV dealers. Here is one: https://youtu.be/fZshRDDVc9o

You will also want to remove your battery and put it on a battery tender for the winter.

Thanks for the quick reply!

That's what I assumed I just wanted to be sure. I plan on taking the battery off and bringing it back to my house.

Another question about the tanks it says there is two grey water ones but I only see one drain. Is it located somewhere else under the trailer? For as much as we have used it I have never had it say anything other than empty.

You're welcome!

Just be sure to put the battery on a battery tender on set a reminder to put it on a regular charger at least once a month. A regular lead acid battery losers 1% of charge a day when it is idle and in two months or less it has drained far enough for permanent damage.

If the monitor has only ever read empty you probably have a phantom monitor. They use generic panels that they can put in as many different units as possible. My Bullet had Grey 1 and Grey 2 monitors, but only one tank.

Perfect. That's what I thought as well.

By the way I love the new trailer. Big time upgrade from the old one we had.

Thanks again!
