12v to 2x 6V cable connection

I have not found a solid answer to the question I have. I have seen pictures of it both ways. So, should the cable connecting two batteries in series be red or black?

Or, is there even a right answer to this question?

My golf cart uses 6 x 6V batteries in series to make a 36V pack. All the wires are black except the ones connecting the charger port to the pack.

it should not matter.

Maybe a red and black striped wire would be best

Sometimes just the ends are colored and the wires are the same color. As long as plus to plus and minus to minus all is well.

Using 2 six volt should not be positive to positive and neg to neg.Series connection is neg to pos between the 2 six volt batteries.

Yes between 6 volt bats, but house is plus to plus and minus to minus.

The +to- jumper cable between two 6V batts can be any color you want. I'd suggest something different from red and black to make removal & rewiring easier to suss out. Some folks use just one color all around and mark with labels or colored tape. The electrons don't care!

going from 1 12V to 2 6V, connect the batteries pos to neg. the remaining pos and neg are your house connections.

Thanks! I pretty much have the wiring figured out. I had previously read that link as one source. I guessed it didn't matter, since the existing wiring is reddish and white. And, because it would depend which side you disconnected first/last as to what it currently was.

Maybe I should candy stripe the cable between batteries with electrical tape red, white and black

Thanks to all!!
