2004 Flagstaff 206 furnace and electrical

Hi all,

I've been out twice with my camper now and last night ran into an issue.

Was plugged into a 30 amp site with my adapter for my 15amp plug.

Furnace/Electric all working fine when we went to bed at 9pm (super cosy with the electric blankets and furnace running!)

At 2 am I woke up FREEZING!

After some investigation figured out the furnace was no longer producing hot air. I flipped the switch to off and back on again. The fan turns on but the pilot light didnt "click click click click" like usual and fan eventually turned off.

In the morning, the alarm for low voltage started sounding and the light were dim. If I tied doing anything electrical the alarm would go off again.

Everything was good the day before.. plugged in, pilot light lit at console.

The stove inside trailer turned on fine in the AM - no problem getting all three burners going so there was no propane issue.

Where am I going wrong? Why would everything change (battery power and pilot on furnace) in the middle of the night?

To be mentioned - it was 30 F outside with rain.

First check your pedestal power supply breaker that it is not tripped as you mentioned that you are plug in using your 15 amp adapter. If it is tripped, reset and you probably need to reduce some load in your trailer to prevent tripping breaker again: eg put hot water heater on propane only....

Why are u using 15 amp adapter?
Fonzie may have it correct start checking for power at pedestal.

I will definitely check the breaker, however I do not have a hot water heater had only my phone charger plugged in. Nothing was running other than the furnace. Everything was fine when we fell asleep at 10pm.

Campsite offered a 30 amp plug in only. My trailer has a household 15 amp plug.

We're under a heavy rainfall warning and the trailer is parked outside folded down.

Ill get in to check the fuses when I'm done building my Ark

If your under a heavy rainfall for a while, maybe it was just a power outage?

No such luck, I checked with the CG hosts before we left and there was no power outage

Ok can someone verify this?

After playing around with the power today, my dad and I figure that our pop up runs ONLY the 120v outlets when plugged into shore power.

Furnace and lights run ONLY on the battery/12v.

Correct?

I had assumed that when plugged into shore power it would power EVERYTHING electrical in the trailer.

Can someone please confirm/deny?

suggest you Google: "The 12 Volt Side of Life I & II". you'll learn a lot about the electrical system in your trailer.
the short answer is yes. you have somethings that are only 110vAC and somethings that are 12vDC.
the a/c(if you have it), the microwave, the 110v outlets only work on shore power or a generator.
somethings can run on both, like the fridge.
the lights, furnace, roof fan, electronics for fridge/water heater DSI run on the battery.
the converter will simply recharge the battery to run these things when on shore power.
if you have a bad battery, your converter will not be able to keep the battery charged, therefore your 12v things will stop working.

It is more likely a bad converter. If the converter is bad is will not put 12 volt out to the trailer. A full charge battery will discharge over nights if the converter is not putting out 12 volts. When you get the trailer set back up again. Plug the trailer into the TV and try the furnace. If the furnace runs ok you most likely have a bad converter.

Typically that is correct. Additionally, most campers also have a charging circuit for the battery. You might check for a charger, or if one doesn't exist, take a 12v charger and connect it to your battery while plugged in. Be sure to check for an existing charger first though as two chargers at the same time would not be a good thing.
