30A surge protector on 50A service

Our TT is 30A, our surge protector is Progressive EMS-PT30C. If we end up at a 50A site, can I just put 50-30 adapter between pedestal and SP? Or do I need a 50A SP plugged directly into pedestal, and then the 50-30 adapter?

Just use the 30 EMS plugged into your 50->30 adapter. It will work fine.

You should be ok with a 50 to 30 adapter with the surge protector

All you need is to connect a 50 to 30 dog bone adapter between the pedestal's 50 amp outlet and the PT30C. Then plug your RV's 30 amp cord into the PT30C. I use this method even when the pedestal has a 30 amp outlet. The 50 amp pedestal outlets seem to be in better shape than the 30amp outlets, thus a better connection.

Most 50 amp post have plug ins for 20, 30 and 50 amp. If you do have to use a 50 to 30 amp adapter you can plug the SP into the adapter. You will only be using one leg (120 volts) of the 50 amp service.
