X4. No better protection. Only brand with enough confidence in their product to give it a lifetime warranty.

be safe and watch the sparks fly - in someone elses trailer that refuses to acknowledge that there are dirty electrical gremlins out there.
The RV park put in a new 50 amp service to all users and 3 people this season fried their 5'ers.
Not us.

Maybe this is a good place to post some information about the Progressive Industries unit that has created some confusion with people who have one. That confusion is concerning the built in delay when the unit powers up, and the 2 delay settings. The power up delay is to prevent air conditioner units from trying to re-start if there has been a very short blink in the power. It is not good for them to try to start after having just been running, they need a rest cycle. You can set this delay for 15 seconds or 2 minutes, 16 seconds. It is important when installing the EMS unit to set that delay according to the instructions for the type of air conditioner you have. Where the confusion comes in is that people think that the 'power on delay' is due to the unit analyzing the power before it turns on the power to the camper. No it is not. Any analyzing is done in micro seconds. That delay is a safety for the air conditioner and if it is not appropriate for the type of air conditioner it doesn't need to be set for 2 minutes 16 seconds.

From the Progressive Industries instructions.
Time Delay for A/C Compressor:
If the AC power is interrupted, or the EMS detects a fault condition, the built-in time delay is activated. There are two settings on the EMS: one is a 136-seconds (02:16) time delay and the other is 15 seconds. Consult your air conditioner manual to see if it has a time delay built in. If so, use the 15 second delay, if not; use the 136-second delay. The factory setting is 15 seconds.

30amp. Surge Protector

Great info.! I don't see how or where the hard wired unit is wired in and I wouldn't be confident to do that myself. So let's say using the portable unit. I'm assuming you plug it into the campground post and plug the RV power cord into the surge protector. Question: now how do you keep the connections out of the rain and stray hose sprayings? (I now see some Q&A responses that rain is not an issue?) Thanks!

Thanks. PI spec for the portable 30A unit states:

"Weather Resistant | Can be exposed to elements, however, may not be submerged. Unit is designed to be mounted or used vertically."
