30amp to 50amp adapter

would it hurt to run a 50amp adtp on my 30amp setup, looking at a campsite at a park all they have left is a 50amp site,would it hurt anything to use a adapter for a week? just wondering and thanks for your help.

It will work. The camper will only draw what it needs from the outlet whether it is 30 or 50 amp.

I've had to do this with my previous fifth wheel on a couple of occasions. It won't hurt a thing. That's why they sell the adapters.

A 50AMP RV system is really two 30AMP legs, when you use a 50 to 30 adapter it utilizes only one of the 30AMP legs. So yes you are fine doing it you will only get 30AMP of service.

Absolutely not, you will have no trouble at all. Your camper's main will take care of your load. It will not allow you to pull more than 30 amps out of that 50 amp supply.

I am not sure what you mean.

While it is true that a 50 to 30 adapter only uses one side of the two available on a 50 amp service, each leg can deliver and is broken at 50 amps each. The camper then provides the 30 amp "throttle" for the power available.

Correct, 2-50 amp "legs". There are 2 phases in a 240 volt system and you get both for a 50 amp connection. The adaptor gives you one phase but it is 50 amps. This leaves the cord which is 30 amp rated being protected at 50 amps. The main in your camper will not allow it to draw more than 30 amps. The nec wouldn't allow it but you, me, and everyone else does it all the time with no trouble.

Yep, and this is completely safe because there is no way for a draw between the socket and the camper that will exceed the main's amp rating. Any short circuit between the pedestal and the camper (like someone hitting your cable with a lawn mower) will pop the 50 amp at the pedestal.
