50 Amp Connector with Locking Ring

How does one get the protective cover off of a 50 Amp Connector with locking ring. The cable is getting pulled out and I want to see if I can reconnect the cable up closer to the plug. The photo is similar to what I have on my unit.

I believe that the plug cartridge just slips into the screw-on cover. It may be a tight fit, but you should be able to remove it. Even if you can't you can remove the three screws from the plug and trim the wires to get the cable sheath back inside the cover.

Here's a picture or what it looks like apart.

There are small screws on the plug end that hold the plug itself into the yellow cover. Remove the small phillips head screws and the cover will slide back off the connector and down the cord.
