50 amp RV; 50 amp Surge Guard; 30 amp service

I have search for this answer in the forum search but couldn't find one.

I have a 50 amp RV and a 50 amp Surge Guard. I have had no problems with any of the campgrounds I've been too since they all had 50 amp service. I am now heading to one with only 30 amp service. Two questions:

1) I believe my second A/C unit is what moved the RV up from 30 amp to 50 amp. So I assume if I only run one A/C unit at a time, 30 amp service should be fine. Correct assumption??

2) If I connect from the pedestal (30 amp service),,, to,,,, 30/50 amp adaptor,,,, to ,,,,,,Surge Guard (50 amp),,,, to,,,, RV power cord (50 amp) will the Surge Guard trip due to only 30 amps coming to it??

Thanks in advance

1) only run one AC unit and 2) Surge Guard should be fine (it will only trip if you exceed 50 amps or have a fault)

Agreed. Have run mine with exactly that setup on many occasions. Will only cause a trip out if you exceed the draw on the 30 amp service. Campground breaker will go first. Surgeguard will do its job unless there is a fault.

And another yes,
30 Amp pedestal ->30 Amp dog bone -> 50 Amp surge guard -> 50 Amp power cord.
The breaker trips when it trips, you'll find out, but no second AC and hot water on propane.
Edit: 30 Amp x 120 Volt = 3600 Watt
50 Amp x (2 x 120) = 12000 Watt

Thanks for the information. I forgot about not using the electric option for the water heater, thanks for the reminder. Some campgrounds have started charging 10 additional dollars per night to go from 30 amp to 50 amp.
