The 55 amps refers to the 12 VDC side, which is what the converter can supply to all the 12v loads. The 30 amps, or 50 amps, refers to the 110 VAC or shore power. The converter "converts the 110 VAC to 12 VDC for the trailer to use. Not all of this power gets converted. You still have to have 110 VAC to run the AC, Microwave and any thing else that is 110 VAC powered.
