Adding a Battery Cut-off Switch

Has anyone installed an after market cut-off switch for a 2010 2304 mini lite? My dual batteries are in a box just behind the propane tanks and I'm finding it a real PITA to access the batteries to disconnect the neg cable (the TT is only used about once per month). There is no room in the battery box for a disconnect switch.

There are a number of cables & wires under one of the dinette seats (the one that houses the LP detector) but I don't know if isolating one of those cables would kill the power to the entire TT (and LP detector). Lots of room there for a switch.

Of course, I could re-route & extend the negative cable to have it go to a cut off switch inside the trailer and then to the frame. Just wondering if there was an easier, more convenient way to isolate the batteries.

I mounted my battery disconnect switch on the outside of the the battery box. You could also mount it onto the frame. Just make sure the switch you get is water-proof. Something like this from Amazon would work well. Run you negative cable to the switch, buy another short cable to go from the switch to the battery. This particular switch disconnects the battery(s) from the coach entirely (no radio, no propane detector, etc.).

I went with a metal battery box and mounted the cutoff switch on the box. 4, 6 volt batteries. This switch allows me to select one pair (either set) or both pair or total disconnect (4 way switch).

Thx, guys. I just assumed the switch had to be mounted inside the TT. This makes it much easier.

Where did you get the switch? CW does not have this model.

Got mine through an Ebay vendor. Just make sure it is a water proof design as GW stated. This one is a Marine model disconnect. There are several types to choose from if you search this forum you will see a lot of people go with one of these. Some use this type but also mount on the inside.

CW does carry similar switches, just not the Blue Sea marine one.
