Air Conditioner Trips GFI Breaker

Need help with GFCI tripping every time my AC compressor kicks on Nothing else trips just the AC GFCI ..not the AC breaker. Any suggestions?

Is that on 30 amp service with no extension cord or adapters ?

Every time my AC compressor kicks on me GFCI for the AC trips. Everything else stays on expect my AC. My AC breaker doent trip just the GFCI? aAy suggestions?

Have you checked line voltage coming into camper ?

Al lights, microwave,everything else works. This GFCI breaker is next to my AC breaker. The AC starts ang runs for about 10 minutes then the GFCI trips. This GFCI only affects the AC.

No not yet I cut my trip short and headed home.
Too hot in Louisiana for no AC.

My voltage meter that I put in the recepticle showed green.

Gfci breaker should have nothing to do with a/c unless it's wired or labeled wrong.

When Gfci breaker trips do any of the Gfci outlets work

Ill have to check that out but the AC still cuts out also. Someone at the camp ground suggested that the AC may be low on Feron anf has to pull hard to get the compressor started...but I cant see why that would kick off the GFCI.

Ive had this camper for 5 years and maybe its labeled wrong. I never noticed it but ill check. Thanks for that suggestion Ill check it out. Im dealing with hurricane ISSAC damage to my hose now so lots to deal with. Thanks agin for your help. This forum helps alot.

IMO the AC shouldn't be on a GFCI circuit, but apparently your's is and has been working like that since 2005. A GFCI circuit, whether protected from a breaker or receptacle, trips when it sees between 5 to 7 milliamperes of current difference from the amount of current that went out from the circuit to the amount that came back from the load. GFCI's do malfunction, there are testers to prove that they will trip as designed. It doesn't take much to trip a GFCI, that's how they protect your from electrocution, moisture is your worst enemy. You have severL options, test the GFCI, replace the GFCI, remove the cover from the AC and look for an issue or move the AC to a none GFCI protected circuit. Since you said it trips after the AC has run for 10 minutes, which is probably when the AC starts making water, I would suspect worn insulation on a wire in the AC that is exposed to the AC condensate. It will not.

As stated previously, it trips when there is a VERY small current difference on the CURRENT coming in on the BLACK wire of the circuit and out on the WHITE (Neutral) wire. It uses the bare copper wire as a reference.

Is the GFCI you are talking about IN the camper, or the one on the pedestal?

Its in the camper. Could be a moisture problem due to a lot...a whole lot of rain in Louisiana lately. Ill have to look for wires on top of the camper (AC).

My guess is you have a current leak up in the Air Conditioner at the compressor.

Since all Neutral wires are connected, maybe the current leak at the AC is drawing down the neutral at the GFCI outlet enough to trip it.
