Another Hidden Breaker/Fuse

Hey There,

Well once I get one thing solved .... There comes something else to confuse me (which is not a difficult task) Again 2015 Salem DBUD this time stove hood/range light and fan stopped working. Where might that reset be and what might make that trip or what other breaker of fuse would it be attached to? I don't see it labeled specifically as stove fan/light. Anyway, thanks for any help someone can give.

All 3 of those items should be 12V. Therefore, the main breaker box contains both the 120V circuit breakers and the 12V fuses. Although it may not be marked on the box, the 12V fuse that controls those items is in that fuse/breaker box. My recommendation, get a flashlight and shine it on each fuse to see if you can determine if it's blown or not. If you cannot clearly see a blown fuse, you will need to remove each fuse individually ( a fuse puller or small needle nose pliers will assist you) and examine it with the flashlight. Just be methodical, the bad fuse is in that box.
Why a fuse blows sometimes has many answers, however, being a new unit, I wouldn't worry about it unless it blows a second time.

Those should be on the 12VDC side Smith, so it would more than likely be a fuse. On the distribution board (in the load center next to the breakers) there may be an led by each fuse. If there is, then the led will tell you which one is blown. If not, you can check each with an automotive test light on both terminals of each fuse. Other than. That you can pull each one out one at a time and visually inspect them. If you don't have any fuses blown, post back up and we'll go a step further.

OK....just checked all fuses in the panel and reflipped all the breakers and still no fan or light above the stove... and am ready for round 2 of suggestions... are there any other fuses by water pump? Thanks again.

Check for voltage at the switch, I know of no fuses by any pumps on any unit. Sorry but that a place to start...

OK the next step would be to check voltage at the device. There should be a switch on each (fan and light). You can check either with a test light(if you can find a good ground nearby the hood) or a multimeter. Pop each switch out of the hood housing and check the voltage across the switch on the back. On a closed circuit, or switch on, you should read 0VDC. With the switch open, or in the off position, you should read the full 12VDC. If you read 12VDC in both positions, then this will indicate a faulty switch. If you read 0 in both positions, this is indicating that the power is not making it to the switch common. This is more than likely the case beings that both devices aren't functioning and they probably share the same feed. If the switch operations verify with good power, then both the fan and the bulb need to be replaced (not likely). While you have the switches out go and and verify that the wires have good connections.

If you have no power to the switch and no fuses are blown, then I would check for loose or bad connections back at the distribution board. If all connections are good then the feed wire is potentially broken and will have to be traced down, or the ground (-) wire of the circuit has come loose. The ground wires for each circuit are usually terminated on a grounding bar that is located behind the power distribution center.

Great thanks, we are still out camping but are heading home today and fortunately we will be driving by our dealer. I plan on calling ahead to see if they can fit us in as we aren't planning on going back out for more than a week or so. Might as well use that warranty while I have it! Thanks again for your help and will keep you posted as to what the problem was.

I went to the dealer today and the service dept. tech said that he has seen the switches go before and had to replace them. I will add it to the end of the camping season fix it list thats under warranty. Thanks for the help.

Took it to dealer... faulty switch... replaced and problem solved!
